If you have any doubt if something is clean enough or where it belongs , throw it in the trash.

Contamination of waste streams is the single largest problem in recycling, and it is one that we in particular are ill equipped to handle.  

Material that is dirty, or in the wrong place can cause entire loads of otherwise useful material to be thrown away.

Yes!  All members get one free 14 gallon bin.  Additional bins may be purchased from our “Store” for $15 a piece +tax.

Anything that one person can easily pick up and dump into the bags on our trailer.  That will vary based on the material.  A 55 gallon trash barrel would be fine for plastic, but not for glass (for example).  Use your judgement, and we’ll make adjustments as we learn from experience.  Cardboard boxes, shopping bags, plastic bins, and trash cans are all acceptable containers.

No, everything will be emptied and left on the curb.

Yes.  just send an e-mail to info@t2t.green and we will make the necessary changes.  The changes will take effect the following month.

We serve Silver City and the communities on roads that spur out from the town- Cottage San, Little Walnut, Ridge, Rosedale, etc.  At the beginning, we may delay extending service all the way out the spurs depending on how many people sign up who live on them.  If you’re not sure whether you’re in our range, send your address to info@t2t.green and we’ll let you know.

Yes.  And no.  Everything must be separated, but does not necessarily need to be in a separate container.  For example, you may put your glass, aluminum, steel, and plastic each into a separate plastic shopping bag, then put those bags in a blue recycling bin and put that on the curb.  If you have a lot more plastic than anything else, you may put that directly in the blue bin, then put shopping bags with the other items on top of the plastic in the blue bin-as long as things are sorted.

Not currently, no.  We are working on the logistics of how we can set one up.

As soon as we create some kind of demand for the material.  Once we have our plastic ecosystem sorted out, we will be turning our attention to paper.

Must be mostly brown and corrugated (amazon boxes, appliance boxes, etc.).  It has two (or more) distinct layers separated by an air gap.

Cereal boxes, beer cases, and that sort of material is NOT classified as cardboard.  It is considered a paper product.  Please do NOT include that type of material with your cardboard.  We HOPE to start collecting that soon.

Cardboard should be folded and cut so it stacks flat and is less than 4 foot square.  It should be stacked neatly on the ground and your other containers should be placed on top of it so it won’t blow around. 

The cardboard does not need to be in a container. Please do NOT put your cardboard in a unflattened cardboard box. 

It is your responsibility to make sure it doesn’t become a mess that bothers others.

Glass should be well cleaned.  Food jars rinsed clean, beer bottles rinsed out, etc. 

Lids and caps should be removed and put in the appropriate bin (generally steel or plastic). 

You do NOT need to remove labels.  Our crushing machine does a good job of that. 

Please do not break the glass.  Broken stuff has difficulty feeding up the conveyor.  

The container you use for glass should not be larger than a standard blue recycling bin.  Use multiple containers if necessary.

Plastic should be #1 thru #7.  Please put all of your plastic in one appropriately sized container.

It must be clean.  If you can’t get something clean, throw it in the trash.  Dirty plastic contaminates the process and makes things much more difficult, if not impossible down the line.

Since plastic is light, you may use a container as large as a full size trash can if you wish.

For the most part, this means beer and soda cans. 

The cans should be rinsed and crushed (if possible).

You can use a magnet to check if a metallic can is aluminum.  If it is attracted to a magnet, it is most likely steel.  If it is not attracted to a magnet, it is most likely aluminum.

Since aluminum is light, you may use a container as large as a full size trash can if you wish.

For the most part, this means food cans (tomato sauce, soup, etc)
