Step Three

We work with our commercial partners to develop manufacturing processes to turn those waste streams into useful products.

Mission Statement

Our goal is to divert reusable and recyclable items (paper, plastic, metal, cardboard, glass, and compostable kitchen waste) from the landfill and turn them into valuable commodities and useful products. We believe that these activities should be done at the municipal level, but since that is not currently available in Grant County, this is the next best thing. We believe that with time and the development of some infrastructure to process the various waste streams, this activity will be self funding. For now however, it will require the support of its membership.

What are we doing with the material we collect?

  • Steel cans are handed off to the Grant County Solid Waste Department who is still able to sell them as a commodity (they just don’t pick them up anymore).
  • Glass is handed off to Silver City Recycles to be crushed into sand and gravel products.
  • Plastic is handed off to  Silver City Recycles to be shredded.  This shredded material will either be made into new plastic items, or sold as a commodity.
  • Cardboard and aluminum cans are made into bales that are sold as a commodity.
